Position Summary

As a Senior Meat Scientist (Senior Scientist, Product Development), you’ll work with The Better for the Planet team in R&D, focusing on the identification and development of new ingredients and materials that deliver differentiated functionality and/or nutritional benefits in our pet foods, treats, and supplements. You’ll work to limit the need for non-renewable resources and the creation of greenhouse gas emissions through the identification of suppliers/partners/technologies, the formation of strategic partnerships, and the testing and qualification of new ingredients and materials. We work globally and cross-functionally to help drive business growth across all our product forms.
- Plan, organize, and perform trials and experiments to deliver ingredient development projects that meet the requirements of the regional business units and our Global Strategic Business Unit (GSBU)
- Function as a project team leader for activities including project leadership, documentation and project reporting, adherence to company policy, and fulfilling requirements of StageGate and Product Development Process
- Interface on project implementation teams by assisting with hand-off from development to start-up and providing operational training
- Provide product, technical input, and assistance within the R&D Network and externally (e.g., with Marketing, Manufacturing, vendors, technical assistance groups) on a wide variety of projects
- Effectively communicate results of development through oral presentations and timely, written technical documentation and reports
- Conduct all activity in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and all required Company policies and procedures
- Collaborate globally with other Nestlé, Nestlé Purina R&D centers and Regional Applications Groups along with any other relevant stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Meat Science, Food Science or related discipline
- 5+ years of professional experience with 3+ of those years in the animal agriculture or food industry
Other
- Knowledge of the animal agriculture industry, livestock production, meat science, and/or protein chemistry is preferred
- Food processing experience is preferred
- 30% travel on average expected
The approximate pay range for this position is $91,000 to $126,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
