The Processing (Harvest) Manager will report to the Plant Operations Manager and partner with other plant leadership in providing support, oversight and leadership to the Harvesting department. This role will be responsible for providing leadership direction to all processing functions and departments, to include staffing needs, development and adherence to operational budget items, product yields and recovery, production scheduling, facilitating and promoting labor relations as well as supporting objective application of the union CBA. The Processing Manager will work to develop and implement operational processes and systems for his department to achieve our operational business goals to include our core values of innovation, engagement, and leadership development through sound practices and established guidelines.
•Operational Management: responsible for directing day to day plant processing operations to include operational expense management, production yields, operating efficiencies food safety and regulatory compliance as applicable for his department. Embraces a ‘continuous improvement’ approach with his team in seeking and achieving operational efficiencies, cost management, yield improvements, product quality and food safety compliance.
•Budget Development and Management: Works with his team in the development and effective management of the annual operations budget to include capital project requests and prioritization.
•Labor Relations: Works closely with HR in supporting initiatives for leadership development, employee retention, education and training, staffing needs and strategies, and accurate and effective compliance with the union CBA.
•Compliance: Works with his management team in supporting the administration and compliance with federal and state employment laws, company policies and procedures and USDA regulatory requirements.
•Leadership Development: Partner with senior management to identify and proactively develop talent through formal training, mentoring, coaching, and assignments. Participate in succession planning to ensure talent is available and ready to assume positions of greater responsibility within the Company.
•Employee Engagement: Supports and champions employee engagement initiative efforts. Works closely with team to review trends with operations management and implements actions to ensure positive organizational changes.
Additional Responsibilities: •Develops strong and collaborative relationships with peers in HR, Maintenance, Quality Control, and others to function as an efficient and effective team in driving for business success.
•Work closely within his management team to support strategies and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
•Develops strong business metrics for his management team and creates and promotes and environment of continuous improvement with a strong sense of accountability and ownership at all levels.
•Consults frequently and openly with Human Resources on correct and proper implementation and consistent application of company polices and CBA language.
•Perform other duties as required and assigned.
•10+ years of beef plant operational experience in a management capacity.
•Strong presentation and business communication skills
•Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding work environment with constant deadlines, interruptions, competing priorities
•Solid computer skills, including Microsoft office products
