Job Purpose: To gain real world experience in the successful manufacturing of food products
Responsibilities:
Work closely with product development scientists on a wide variety of value-added food projects (may require travel to other production facilities within the USA)
Gain experience and apply knowledge of food science to the product development process
Learn to operate a wide variety of food processing equipment
Practice communication skills, use analytical techniques, and apply critical thinking skills
Learn about product formulation and prepare prototypes in the lab/pilot plant for review by marketing, sales, operations and R&D
Conduct process and product troubleshooting
Test new ingredients and processes
Requirements:
Must have completed two years of a Food Science major at the time of applying (i.e. Junior Status) or another related field (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA strongly preferred)
Demonstrated leadership skills are necessary for success in this position
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Possess a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit
Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States

This position will require access to and/or the utilization of a personal motor vehicle to get to and from the workplace
Must be comfortable with the preparation and consumption of a variety of Hormel Foods Products which may include but not limited to pork, beef, chicken, turkey and nuts.
Location and Hours:
Position is based out of our Planters Innovation Center in Northbrook, IL
Internship is about 10 weeks, full time, approximately 40 hours per week, beginning late May to early August
Compensation/Benefits:
Competitive wage
The base pay range is $21 to $23 per hour; however, actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location

Reimbursement of all expenses incurred on the job
